This is the Aleph Tav, the first letter and last letter of the Hebrew alphabet as read right to left. It would be like saying A to Z in our alphabet, or Alpha and Omega in Greek alphabet. It shows up a few times in the Old Testament and is generally considered to be untranslatable. Genesis 1:1, In the original Hebrew, Aleph Tav appears after "In the beginning God..." It's also in a prophetic verse in Zechariah 12:10--In Hebrew it would read "They will look on me (Aleph Tav) whom they have pierced." Again, it wasn't translated, but it would be like saying A to Z in the middle of a thought. In Revelation 22:13, which was written in Greek, Jesus says "I Am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end." Although it was written in Greek, Jesus likely spoke Hebrew and would have probably said "Aleph Tav".
Starting Saturday, we will be educating ourselves from God's Word. Although this symbol won't really come into play in these verses, I thought it was interesting and might help us understand from another angle!!
