Psalm 148

Psalms 101-150 are done using the SOAK method--Scripture Observation Application Kneel in prayer

S--Psalm 148

O--Another call to worship.  But not just a congregation but all of creation. All angels, army of heaven;sun, moon, stars; heaven and waters; animals, weather, mountains, hills, trees. Royalty and peasants, princes and all regular people, young men and women, elderly and children.  Everyone and everything can praise God no matter where they find themselves-- from the heavens, from the mountains, from the earth, from the deeps.  All of creation praises God as the Creator.  He spoke every single thing into existence and set the way it should go.  Every thing will last from past to present to future and into eternity at his command.  Once He set all things into motion, they only answer to the voice of their Creator, it cannot be overruled.  Only God is lifted up to the highest heights, all by His own power.  He has raised up a horn, a setting apart of His people from the rest of creation.  He has mirrored His Kingdom through kingdoms He has set up on earth (namely, the kingdom of David that brought forth the King of Kings, Christ Jesus).  Praise the Lord for the added blessing we have as humans, made in His image, to proclaim His Kingdom to the world!!

A--One of my favorite songs is "So Will I" by Hillsong United.  I am moved by the lyrics that say "If the stars were made to worship, So Will I" (there are lots of other examples in the lyrics).  But this chapter changes me by leading me to realize it would more rightly be said "If the stars were made to worship, then how much MORE should I?"  Of course that probably wouldn't sound as pretty😏 But the psalmist is saying all of these things are created to praise, and they do.  It's set in a decree straight from God and cannot be changed.  But God in His unwavering love, has given us a platform to share His love from our hearts of our own free will.  He wants His people to praise Him, but He doesn't force us to praise Him.  His Great Name and no other deserves our praise!

K--Let me praise You because there is no other worthy.
