Psalm 112

Psalm 101-150 are done using the SOAK method--Scripture Observation Application Kneel in prayer

S--Psalm 112

O--The man or woman who respects the Lord and finds joy in His word will be greatly blessed.  He will raise his children to be strong and able to live an upright life before God and man.  There will be an ease to their home life that comes from the enduring, perpetual devotion to the commands of their God.  Light can shine in the darkness with no fear, because they have no skeletons in their closet, only grace, mercy, and upright living.  The man or woman who deals generously,  and freely gives from the overflow of their own blessings will be well respected.  But they won't be a door mat that people wipe their feet on, because they temper their generosity with lawfulness.  The righteous will not be swayed or forgotten; he will not fear bad news because any fear is erased by the  amount of trust he has placed in God.  His heart is fixed in faith not fear, he knows the One who holds victory!!  He has acted on the commands of caring for the needs of this world with generosity, he is well known for his right living, he is the toast of the town.  Of course, that brings out the jealousy of others, those who want to live a life of short cuts and selfishness.  Rather than do what's right, the wicked uses his time to bad mouth the righteous man, to his own shame and demise.

A--"The Righteous Will Never Be Moved" 🙌  This chapter changes me by showing me the results of a life that pledges allegiance to God.  Joy, ease, blessings, light, grace, mercy, upright living, justice, trust, faith, victory, generosity.  When compared to anything we can bring to the table on our own merit, how can we not choose God??  "Light dawns in the darkness for the upright" shows me that we will still have dark moments that come across our path because we live in a fallen world. But when the light shines, it will not reveal "monsters under the bed"— it will shine the light of Christ directly onto our paths!!  That should lead us to a freedom to walk with boldness on the path that God has for us.  Situations are sometimes scary, no doubt. My default mode is anxiety 😓  But the study of God who reveals Himself through His Word will bolster us to proclaim triumph over sin through the victory of Christ Jesus!!

K--I pledge my allegiance to you, Lord.  I want my life to reflect You.
