Psalm 113

Psalm 101-150 are done using the SOAK method--Scripture Observation Application Kneel in prayer

S--Psalm 113

O--The beginning of Hallel (Praise) "A Jewish Prayer, a verbatim recitation from Psalms 113-118.  This prayer is recited by observant Jews on Jewish holidays as an act of praise and thanksgiving.  Often set to music."  (Wikipedia and dictionary--see Link at the bottom of the post for a video) The Psalmist is leading his fellow followers of God to answer the question "Who is like the Lord Our God?" He starts with Praise the Lord!   Notice the words  Hallel (Praise)  and Jah (yah--The Lord) ---Hallelujah.  Those who serve God will know that the name of the Lord is worthy to be praised. Kneel in praise at the name of God, both now and forever.  From east where the sun rises to west where the sun sets,  the praises of the Lord should be first in our mind, first in our heart, and first out of our mouths!  The Lord is above everything on earth and in heaven.  There is no one to even compare Him to, no one as wonderful and powerful as God.  He makes sure everyone is equal under His Name, those who are the "have nots" become the "haves",  by His Hand!!  The Psalmist leads the congregation to begin and end the verse focused on praise.

A--This chapter changes me!!  The thought that Jesus, as an observant Jew, would have sang these verses for every Jewish holiday as an act of praise and thanksgiving prompts to me consider the deeper meaning of this psalm.  Jesus, the long-promised Messiah, is the One who stoops down from heaven, raising the poor, lifting the needy, leveling the playing field by becoming one of us.  Christ Jesus, the Creator God, humbling Himself as a servant (Philippians 2:7), taking on human form,  being led to sing praises to His own great Name!!  Who is like the Lord Our God?  He has no rival.  He has no equal.

K--Hallelujah--Bless the Name of the Lord.  💗
