Psalms 101-150 are done in the SOAK method—Scripture Observation Application Kneel in prayer
S—Psalm103
O—David’s Song. His outlook in 103 is much better than in 102. He has changed his focus from his troubles to the only One who can drive him to his knees in adoration. God forgives, He heals, He buys us back, He places His banner of unwavering love, generosity, and forgiveness over us. God gives the strength we need to always be at our best. The cause God is always working hardest for is upright living and integrity in the lives of those who are burdened by the wages of sin. The wages of sin were revealed through the law given to Moses; yet through the actions of God, we see mercy, grace, long suffering, and an overflowing of unwavering love. God is not all about scolding or only concerned with judgement. His steadfast love lives outside of place (vs 11-12) and time (vs 17-19). But He also knows that we LIVE in time and place, so He meets us there with the love of a Father to a child.
A—This chapter changes me by drawing me near to my Father in overwhelming, grateful love. To be known as I am, (vs 14), to be unwaveringly loved in spite of my limitations and temptations, drives me to my knees in adoration of the One who has provided me a firm, stable foundation.
K—Father, my soul joins with the angels, the armies of heaven, Your creation— to meet Your unwavering love, forgiveness, mercy, and grace with adoration and praise!!!
