Psalm 101-150 are done using the SOAK method--Scripture Observation Application Kneel in prayer
S—Psalm 102
O—David is the author, but calls himself “one afflicted”. A prayer of complaint. King David has no appetite, he’s not sleeping, he’s reliving all of his failures, his enemies words play over and over in his head. His anguish is affecting him physically (vs 3-6), mentally (vs 7-8), emotionally (vs 9-10). But God is who He has always been and He is where He’s always been. David boldly tells God it’s time to show up for Zion, to show His greatness to a people, both now and to come, that He sees them and hears them.
A—David is so distraught he doesn’t even know his own name. I’ve felt that way before. I’ve cried in the middle of the night, and worried my way through the day. The more I dwelled on the negative, the worse I felt. 😣 This chapter changes me by reminding me to dwell on God and not to be afraid to ask questions and make requests. Sometimes He stops me in my tracks (vs 23) to remember that He is the maker of heaven and earth. And although all of creation has an expiration date, God Does Not!!! God’s children, and their offspring, and on and on, can live (LIVE) securely because they are built on the stability of the One who is enthroned forever!! ❤️
K—But You, O Lord. I pray to remember in the middle of all craziness that brings fear—You alone.
