“Whatever!” Study day 3 from May 2022

 "Whatever is true, whatever is HONORABLE, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."

Honorable--Serious, dignified, having gravity.

OT--“I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.

The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil.

Pride and arrogance and the way of evil

    and perverted speech I hate.

I have counsel and sound wisdom;

I have insight; I have strength.

By me kings reign,

 and rulers decree what is just;

by me princes rule,

 and nobles, all who govern justly.

I love those who love me,

and those who seek me diligently find me.

Riches and honor are with me,

enduring wealth and righteousness." Proverbs 8:12-18

NT--Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable.  Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.--2 Timothy 2:20-21 (This is also a target verse. )

Target--And on the Sabbath day we went outside the gate to the riverside, where we supposed there was a place of prayer, and we sat down and spoke to the women who had come together. One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul. And after she was baptized, and her household as well, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” And she prevailed upon us."--Acts 16:13-15 (The word "worshiper" is a form of our word today.  Meaning she held God with much gravity and dignity, yet it was the gospel of Christ Jesus that changed her life!!)
