Yodh--Psalm 119:73-80 (The Aleph Tav of Psalm 119)

The yodh, or yod, י is the 10th and smallest letter of the Hebrew Alphabet.  Jesus uses the word in Matthew 5:18, when He says "not one jot will pass away."  The jot, the yod, was often overlooked by scribes due to it's small size.  But it's so important!!  To make all other letters in the Aleph Tav, you start with a yod.  Because Jesus Himself upholds the world with His word of power (Hebrews 1:3) and yod is part of every Hebrew letter, Yod represents the starting point of the presence of God in all things. Our y word is yadeicha which means "hands".

The student realizes that his starting point is with the Teacher.  He has made and sustained him. He has peer support from others who have realized the same thing.  He's going back to the beginning, the grassroots of his relationship with God--the moment he KNEW that all the bad in his life had a new start in the goodness of God.  His life is wrapped up in the mercy of God.  Like a bad penny, the bully continues to show up 😟 but the student is not completely distracted, trusting the outcome to the Teacher.  He's even willing to go to the front of the class and be a role model, letting the other students follow him as he follows the Teacher  (1 Corinthians 11:1)

This section changed me by making me rehearse my "starting point" with God.  A starting point may seem insignificant and small, like our letter today.  But a whole life pivots on the decision to follow Christ.  The moment when I stopped, turned on my heel, and ran back to God--that little smudge my quick stop made on the floor--it matters.  That is the moment my life began.  The moment I was made a new creation.  I'm so thankful to be traveling this  road with a group of fellow students who respect the Teacher.  I pray we rejoice together as we learn and grow.
