Nun--Psalm 119:105-112 (The Aleph Tav of Psalm 119)

נ ,ן Nun is the 14th letter and sounds like our letter n.  It is said to represent both faithfulness and the reward for faithfulness.  An example in James 4:10--"Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you."  In Aramaic the meaning of nun is fish, which represents life and activity.  Our n word is ner, which means lamp.

When a pastor baptizes a new believer, he often says something like: "Buried with Christ, raised in newness of life." The student has stepped out of the "baptismal waters" he was immersed in yesterday and is walking into his new life as a faithful disciple of his Teacher.  He has sworn his allegiance to God and sealed it with his actions.  As is often the case, suffering is right around the corner to distract the author, but he has promised to live a  life of praise.  The student is choosing to follow the Teacher of his own free will, and he CAN walk away at any time.  Not only has the psalmist chosen to follow God, he claims His Word as his inheritance forever.

I want to be faithful like this student. I have made an oath to God and confirmed it. Some days are a struggle.  😢 My actions too often show me living as if I hold my life in my own hand.  I don't think I need a light or a lamp, I can stumble through on my own.  But I can't.  I really can't.  I need His Word to give me life.  And so do you.  Not someone else's words. Definitely not my own words.  But God's Word is our beautiful inheritance.  It is life-giving.  It is the reward for faithfulness.  I pray to bend my heart to Him.  Forever, to the end.
