S--Psalm 140
O--"To the choirmaster" or "For the director of music" should lead us, the reader, to understand this psalm was written by David for the purpose of public worship. David was singing of very personal experiences with evil and violent men; but his invitation to the congregation to sing along confirms the human experience is the same, from king to peasant. Violent, evil, wicked men (and women) have and will continue to seek to harm followers of God, but God will protect His own. David calls on the congregation to rehearse that God is our God, He listens, He saves us, He protects us. Just as God cares for all who call on His name, from the king on down, so He protects us from the enemy, from the leader on down. God will lift up the cause of His beloved children, inviting them to dwell in His presence.
A--We will all face people and situations that intentionally set out to harm us, and only God can deliver us. Exalt Him. We will all face arrogant, spiteful, wicked hateful people and situation, and only God can guard us. Exalt Him. We should remind ourselves daily (hourly? minutely? 😏) that God is our God, He is on our side if we choose to follow Him, we only have salvation by His strength, we only survive ANY of this by His covering!! We can pray for the destruction of the enemy from the leader on down, and pray that the enemy will have no success. But the focus should be on our already-victorious leader, Christ Jesus, who will maintain our cause (And side-note---the cause is the Gospel of Christ Jesus, not any and every little thing we cling to based on our own pet peeves.) If we are living according to the upright example of Jesus, we WILL give thanks to the wonderful Name of God and live in His presence.
K--I realize the enemy is real, but You are MORE real. I lift Your name in praise!!!
