One of my most-listened to songs right now is “Hold Me Jesus” by Rich Mullins. One line really captures King Ahab’s heart “I’d rather fight you for something I don’t really want, than take what You give that I need.” King Ahab owned all of the land but pouted over a private vineyard. I imagine that piece of land wouldn’t have mattered that much in the big picture, but he WANTED it. Greed can cause us to sell ourselves, to lay our convictions aside, to think less of what we already have and to go after what we think we want or even deserve.
Protect my mind and my heart from losing myself in greed.
