1 Kings 15

Finally!! We have a godly king back on the throne. David’s great-great grandson, Asa. He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord and his heart was wholly true to God. But it’s an unnamed person (persons?) who has my attention. Who trained Asa in the way he should go? His father, Abijam, (possibly adoptive older brother since they are listed as having the same mother), and his grandfather, Rehoboam, were surely too busy doing evil in the eyes of God and leading their country into sin and idolatry. Who influenced Asa to not only know about David’s God, when surely most of the signs of Him have been removed and replaced, but to fan his knowledge into love and love into devotion? I want to be that person to someone.

Let a right spirit and a wholly devoted heart start with me.
