“Whatever!” Study Day 10 from May 2022

 "Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."

The same word translated "these things", is the word used in Matthew 1:22-23-- 

"All THIS took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,

    and they shall call his name Immanuel”

(which means, God with us)." 

and again in Matthew 3:17--"A voice from heaven said, “THIS is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

Jesus is the definition of all of these words!  Think on Him!!

Jesus is TRUE-- "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

John 14:6

Jesus is HONORABLE--"For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him."  John 5:22-23

Jesus is JUST--"Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice;

 blessed are all those who wait for him." Isaiah 30:18

Jesus is PURE--"And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure." 1 John 3:3

Jesus is LOVELY--"And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption" 

1 Corinthians 1:30

"His mouth is most sweet,

 and he is altogether lovely.

This is my beloved and this is my friend,

 O daughters of Jerusalem." Song of Solomon 5:16

Jesus is COMMENDABLE-“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives

 and recovering of sight to the blind;  to set at liberty those who are oppressed,

to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.” Luke 4:18-19

Jesus is EXCELLENT--"But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises." Hebrews 8:6

Jesus is WORTHY OF PRAISE--“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power,

for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 4:11

Isaiah 26:3--"You keep him in perfect peace

    whose mind is stayed on you,

    because he trusts in you."
