We are reading through the Bible with #thebiblerecap currently in Exodus. Exodus 3-14 tells the legendary story of God rescuing the Hebrew slaves from Egypt. Moses speaks to Pharoah on God’s behalf, asking him to set God's people free. God shows His power through vast, cataclysmic plagues--water turned in to blood; frogs; gnats; flies; death of Egyptian livestock; boils; hail. And at every turn, Pharoah refuses to set the people free. Every single Egyptian and Hebrew is witness to and affected by these plagues in some way. I'm sure everyone is talking about it. It's national news.
But in Exodus 10:1-2, God leans in to let Moses know it's a personal story, too. God is providing Moses a line to trace, a track record of His faithfulness. Moses can see it, but God wants him to say it , too. He wants him to recount all that's happened so far, and will happen in the next few days (weeks, months, years...)to his "son and his grandson, so that they may know that He, God, is the LORD."
God is still doing big things in big ways. In our world, in our countries, in our states, in our towns, in our churches. And in our families. Just like the Hebrews and Egyptians, there are so many things going on around us, our heads are spinning and our hearts are aching. But, look for ways that God is leaning in and guiding, comforting, leading, loving. Find the line of His faithfulness and trace it. Recount it to yourself and then repeat it out loud to your "son and grandson", the people you love, that they may know that He is the LORD.
