Psalm 132

Psalms 101-150 are done using the SOAK method--Scripture Observation Application Kneel in prayer

S--Psalm 132

O--  The worshipers are singing a tribute to their great king, David.  He committed to the Lord his desire to see a home built for the ark of the covenant, the Presence of God in their midst.  Everywhere he went, he declared he would not rest until he saw this temple built.  As they arrive at the temple, they recognize this beautiful place, although built under the leadership of David's son, King Solomon, this temple is the dream of King David come true. God promises David he will always have a "son", a descendant,  on the throne, if they keep the commandments.  God will always keep His promise to the nation of Israel, His beloved, chosen people.  But out of David will also sprout a KING of kings.  This King will rule a spiritual kingdom of people whom God also loves.  A song of promise to David's family,  personally.  A song of promise to the chosen people of God, Israel.  A song of promise for the coming King, whose crown will outshine them all!!  (1 Chronicles 28: 2 Chronicles 6; 1 Kings 2; Psalm 99)

A--It's ok to "sing" through our history.  God has done great things for us, and we ARE glad.  If not for many brave, committed, passionate, tireless people, the gospel of Christ Jesus might never have reached us.  When you see the fingerprints of God in someone's life-past or present-celebrate!  When you see God moving in your family, your community, your church--Sing!!  But never forget the common denominator of our praise--Christ Jesus, the Redeemer who unites us.  All of the promises of God--personal and corporate--are confirmed in the King of kings.

K--I don't desire to put anyone on a pedestal but You, Lord.  Although I recognize your work in and through others, I know it is YOUR work.  I will only worship at Your feet. May it be so.
